The following are the minimum requirements for applicants.

Two-Year and Three-Year Program Options

  • GRE scores (General Test), taken within the last five years

  • 3.0 GPA in the major

Advanced Standing Program Option

  • GRE scores (General Test), taken within the last five years

  • 3.2 GPA in Social Work

  • Three outstanding letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the student's BSW field supervisor.

Course Prerequisites (All options)

The following undergraduate courses should have been taken prior to application.

  • 18 hours of social and behavioral sciences. These may be courses in anthropology, economics, ethnic studies, global studies, history, psychology, social work and/or sociology, or other courses as decided by the transcript reviewer.

  • 6 hours of humanities. These may be courses in art, drama, literature, and/or music, or other courses as decided by the transcript reviewer.

  • 3 hours of human biology. Lab courses are preferred but not required. Ecology or environmental biology courses do not count towards this requirement.

  • 3 hours of statistics.

The JMSW Program does not grant credit for life or work experience.
